Join the Chamber Singers
Are you looking for an advanced chamber choir in Singapore? Vox Camerata is holding choir auditions for our premier vocal ensemble, the Vox Camerata Chamber Singers. We invite dedicated classical singers, freelance musicians, and passionate choral artists to join us for our upcoming season.
Vox Camerata is rebuilding our Chamber Singers, and we invite dedicated musicians to audition. As a values-aligned arm of our organization, this ensemble is designed for singers who crave rigorous artistic discipline and meaningful community engagement. This is a long-term artistic home for students and young working adults who want to sing with purpose.
Our Vision and Values
We believe that great music has the power to educate audiences and bridge diverse communities. We are looking for singers who embody our five core values: musical excellence, discipline, humility, intercultural openness, and service to community. We tackle challenging, multicultural repertoire, approaching each tradition with deep respect and an eagerness to foster intercultural dialogue.
What to Expect at the Audition
Auditions run across three days — May 25–27, 2026. The process has three parts.
You will receive two short excerpts in advance. Come prepared to sing your voice part confidently — these are not sight-reading tests. The sight-singing portion is separate: a short unseen excerpt to assess how quickly you can study and sing new material.
The third part is a conversation. We want to hear about your motivation for joining and the values you bring to an ensemble. There are no trick questions — we are looking for singers whose sense of purpose aligns with ours.
Who We're Looking For
We are building towards an ensemble of 24–28 singers across all voice parts. All sections are open for this cycle, and we are particularly keen to hear from basses and tenors.
Technical ability matters, but it is not the only thing. The singers who thrive here are those who want their voice to mean something beyond the stage.
Rehearsals
We rehearse every Tuesday, 7:30 to 10pm, at Aliwal Arts Centre, Singapore. Weekly commitment is expected.
The Music
The Chamber Singers perform a cappella high art choral music — from Renaissance polyphony to newly commissioned works by Singapore composers. Our singers regularly perform music that has never been heard before.
What You Get
There is no membership fee. Singers are compensated when paid engagements come in, which happens a few times a year. Beyond that, you get two things that are harder to find: a serious musical community, and the knowledge that the work you do here matters.
