Join the Chamber Singers

Vox Camerata is rebuilding our Chamber Singers, and we invite dedicated musicians to audition. As a values-aligned arm of our organization, this ensemble is designed for singers who crave rigorous artistic discipline and meaningful community engagement. This is a long-term artistic home for students and young working adults who want to sing with purpose.

Our Vision and Values

We tackle challenging, multicultural repertoire, approaching each tradition with deep respect and an eagerness to foster intercultural dialogue.

The Commitment

We offer a hybrid choral experience tailored for busy but dedicated musicians. The ensemble is anchored by regular weekly rehearsals held every Tuesday from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM at the Aliwal Arts Centre. Beyond our weekly practice, members will participate in ambitious long-term goals including concert tours, recordings, collaborations, and occasional honorarium-based ad-hoc performances.

The Audition Process

To ensure a high standard of musicianship and a strong cultural fit, auditions will follow a transparent four-step process.

• Vocal range exercise: A brief assessment to understand where your voice is most comfortable.
• Two prepared excerpts: Short choral excerpts that will be emailed to you immediately upon registration.
• Sight-singing exercise: A test of your independent musicianship and reading ability.
• Interview: A short conversation to get to know the musician behind the voice and ensure alignment with our values.

Important Dates

Auditions will be held from May 25 to May 27, 2026, between 4:00 PM and 9:30 PM. There are exactly 39 audition slots available, which will be booked in 20-minute blocks. Registration strictly closes on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 11:59 PM.
